Where the facts come from
Every factual claim on this site links to its source. This is the full list.
How we checked
Each fact was written alongside its source. Our build script stores the source text and, for every fact, checks that the key words and figures really appear in it. 153 of 153 checks passed when this site was last built (October 2026). Where we couldn’t find a source we could read, we left the claim out.
Figures that change
Palaeontology moves quickly. New fossils turn up and new studies revise old estimates, especially for size, mass, speed, bite force, growth and age. Facts like these are marked “checked 24 Oct 2026” so you know how fresh they are, and we say where estimates vary. Dates of discoveries and names, such as T. rex being named in 1905, don’t change.
Our main source is Wikipedia, which summarises and cites the published research; follow its references for the original papers.
